A Few Tidbits About My MSC Services and Programs
The Million Metre Challenge
The Million Metre Challenge is now a year old! The program has proven popular with many of our members regardless of whether they compete at meets or not. More than 750 members are currently logging their metres and more than 1000 awards have been sent out to recognize their achievements, including certificates, pins, swim caps, and more. The MMC is an excellent tool for building club spirit and encouraging swimmers to get in the pool regularly. Please look at the profile of Maîtres de St-Jérôme on MyMSC.ca to see how that club has used the program to attract and motivate members. Visit MyMSC/Million.jsp and get yourself and your club started tracking your training!
Track Your Times
The MyMSC.ca site has several features that will be of interest to many Masters Swimmers! Swimmers who like to compete will want to visit the My MSC Competition page where they will find a list of upcoming meets for the entire country, browsable and searchable meet results, and national and provincial rankings that include all swims so even swimmers who aren't in the top twenty can see how they rank. The national records can be browsed in an age-group/time matrix format or in a more detailed format for each age group, and the records can be downloaded in the HyTek records format for use at your next meet! Our results and rankings can only be kept complete if we receive results for all meets, so make sure your meet manager submits results!
Instructions on how to submit results in the needed format are linked to on the Competition page.
Personalized Tracking
From their personalized "My MSC" page swimmers can:
- search for all of their meet results - or those of their rivals
- track their metres in the Million Metre Challenge
- track their times - whether they be official meet times or timed swims from practice
- keep track of which events they have swum this season or this year
- list any records they hold
- track their personal best times - also by season, year, or all time.
Coaching Information
The MSC Leadership and Coaching Committee has built a collection of links to useful articles on the web that will be of interest to coaches and swimmers alike. And work is now underway to update the Coaching Hints document. The Coaching Committee is also constructing a list of coaches, it would be greatly appreciated if coaches would register on the site (using the swimmer registration form) and if club contacts would then add their coaches to the coaches list using the form on this page. Coaches can also send an email to webmaster at MastersSwimmingCanada.ca after they register requesting to be added to the list.
Articles and Profiles
Check out the My MSC Home Page for a substantial collection of swimmer and club profiles and articles and news updates. If you know a swimmer or a club with an interesting story to tell, or know of a swimming related news story please contact us so we can spread the word. We are always looking for a story or a lead on which we can write an article.
Club List and Contacts
The next time one of your members is on the road they can look for a club to swim with on the nation-wide Club List. And new swimmers can use the list to find a club to join. Make sure the info on your club is up to date! The site also has a list of all the provincial Masters web sites.
