In the women’s 200m medley relay, 280-319 age group Team Ontario Masters Swimmers Judie Oliver 74 (butterfly) [far left], Sylvia Eisele 77 (breaststroke), Doris McEwan 82 (freestyle), and Michelle Oliver 49 (daughter of Judie - backstroke) stripped almost 8 seconds off the World Record, with a time of 3:02.07 on Tuesday August 8, 2006, at the Stanford University Pool, during the FINA World Masters Swimming Championships.

McEwan – who also won a mixed relay gold and three individual silver medals - recalls standing on the blocks waiting to take over from Judi Oliver. Oliver was holding the lead, a position the women held from the moment her daughter Michelle Oliver had lead off in backstroke.

“So all I had to do was keep that lead. It was so exciting at the finish to hear the announcer saying, ‘How about those Canadian Ladies? A new World Record!’ It was sweet!”
